University of Oregon Ducks' a capella group 'On the Rocks' or OTR on Wednesdays [12/8/2010] NBC's 'The Sing Off' with their HIP HOPPING AWESOME rendition of TI and Rihanna's 'Live Your Life.' ★BE A QUACKER BACKER, GO DUCKS! ★ Go Ducks! In the second episode of the short-run a cappella competition series, "The Sing-Off," the singing pride of the University of Oregon -- otherwise known as On the Rocks -- did themselves proud, pumping a hiphop tune full of their trademark energy. The challenge on this episode was to take a contemporary hit, and transform it into an a cappella arrangement. On the Rocks kicked things off with their take on "Live Your Life," a hit for TI and Rihanna. In rehearsal footage, OTR member Jeff Rogers said he was a big rap fan, so he'd do the rap part of the tune. The all-male group did seem to realize that doing a hiphop number was -- well, let's say, it was a stretch. And seeing them burst onstage with typical exuberance, dressed in their cardigans, striped shirts and ties, they looked about as likely to pull off a hiphop number as Charlie Brown. But they jumped into it with total commitment, and, as usual, seemed to be having more fun than a bucket of ducks. ★★★★★ OTR's other Fun, Energy performances on 'The Sing Off" (check em out if you haven't already!): Much better than watching that senior citizen group Jerry Lawson and the Geriatrics.
